Camp Daybreak 2017

August 6 - August 13

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A CAMP DAYBREAK CAMPER?

Camp Daybreak serves Vermont children ages 8-11 with a range of social, behavioral and mental health needs by providing a one-week residential summer camp experience. Each camper is paired with a high school or college aged volunteer, ensuring that they are provided with around the clock attention and support during their experience.

Our campers are referred by educators, mental health providers and families who feel that their young person could benefit from a highly supportive residential experience. Additionally, the session is an opportunity for families to take care of themselves and prepare for their camper’s return with a renewed energy and perspective.

At the heart of the Camp Daybreak program are the campers and their families. By providing individualized support and strengths based programming, our campers are supported to explore their interests and connect with their peers in ways that are positive and empowering. Many who return to academic settings in the fall – an environment that is traditionally challenging for our population – show marked improvement in their relational skills and ability to participate in classroom activities.

Parents and educators have noted that the Camp Daybreak experience becomes a support system for the young people well after the conclusion of the session.
